In plastic products where through holes are part of the design, removable core pins are a necessary part of tooling design.

For the most part core pins are held in place with clamps either with an in-line clamping motion or a more standard swing action. These mechanisms work but in some cases are prone to misalignment and adjustment issues.

Eliminating the necessity for clamps eliminates both of these related issues. In addition, there are some core pins that, by nature, must be placed in very hard to reach places and working clamps in those areas can become tricky and cumbersome.

Magnetic core pin holders are the answer to all of these issues and are now available from RotoMart. Since there are a wide variety of core pin diameter and lengths, magnetic core pin holders must be custom made from your specific requirements.

Please note that, in some, but not all cases, there may be some modification of the mold necessary, by way of mounting a steel bushing, for initial installation and use of these pins. Simulation model typically includes: Kinematics motion of the mold mounted on an arm/plate combination: Relative motion between the mold surface and the polymer powder Heating of the mold Melting of the polymer Further heating of the polymer to a desired peak internal air temperature Removal heating of the polymer to a desired peak internal air temperature Removal from the oven and application of one or more coolant streams Solidification of the melted polymer Cooling of the mold until a demolding temperature is reached The RotoSim program has been developed to simulate the rotational molding process and it addresses all of these activities. Its main purpose is to accurately model the molding process and provide the engineer with a design tool that can help to reduce the time spent with an actual production molding machine when developing the process for a new mold shape. In addition, it has proved useful as an offline process simulator for training new machine operations.

Well maintained parting lines are critical to extend the useful life of aluminum molds and the quality of the plastic parts made from them.
The use of metal scrapers for cleaning is the biggest contributor to damaged parting lines and should be avoided.
The use of proper tools, on the other hand can ensure a longer mold life.

Our new Intellivent uses the tested venting performance of our Supavent line and goes one step further by allowing the vent to be inserted into a 1" O.D. PTFE tube.  This protects it from the problems caused by rough extraction from the plastic part and/or the mold.

This vent is designed to fit straight into the end of a PTFE tube that has been reamed to the proper diameter with our cutting tool.  Now molders can employ this new venting technology without concern of tearing or wearing from rough handling.
